2nd Grade

Mr. Joseph Ivey is excited to be teaching 2nd grade at Youngsville Elementary. He is a graduate of Ashford University where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education in 2019. He comes with over 29 years of experience working with kids. He worked as an Instructional Assistant with Durham Public Schools for 23 years. He also served as a Behavior Specialist for 2 of those years in Durham Public Schools. Mr. Ivey has been with Franklin County Schools for over 6 years, where he worked at Louisburg Elementary School for 5 of those years. This is his second year teaching 2nd grade at Youngsville Elementary School. Mr. Ivey is married to his wife Morella, who is a Kindergarten teacher at Youngsville Elementary. Together they have 4 boys and 1 Shih Tzu named Minnie who is very spoiled. In his spare time he enjoys singing, cooking, and taking nature walks. Mr. Ivey is looking forward to a great year here at Youngsville Elementary School. His motto is “No Child Left Behind”.

Ms. Hanson has been teaching for 20 years. Ms. Hanson started her teaching career in Vance County . She taught Kindergarten for two years. 1st grade for 9 years and 2nd grade for 9 years. She has taught in Franklin County Schools for 6 years in 2nd grade at YES. Ms. Hanson looks forward to a great year full of learning and fun.

Mrs. Smith graduated from East Carolina University in 2021 with a degree in Elementary Education. She worked for Franklin County Schools for 6 years as an Instructional Assistant. This is her third year at Youngsville Elementary School and is so excited to work in Second Grade! In her spare time she loves spending time with her husband and boys. You can usually find her near the water with a good book in hand!

Mrs. Wheeler is a graduate of East Carolina University with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. She is also licensed to teach Special Education. This is Mrs. Wheeler's 29th year in education.
Mrs. Wheeler has lived in Franklin county for the past 30 + years. She has two daughters and 4 grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, cooking, photography, and spending time with family.

Mrs. Hollingsworth is in her 17th year in education, her third year teaching second grade, and her second year at Youngsville Elementary. Throughout her career, she has taught students in kindergarten through fourth grade across several states, including North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, and California. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University.

Mrs. Hollingsworth now lives in Wake Forest with her husband, Brian, a U.S. Navy veteran who served for 23 years, and their two dogs, Sadie and Zoe. Their son, Zach, works as a sales executive in the software industry in Durham, and their daughter, Rachel, is a sales recruiter in the healthcare industry based in Raleigh.

In her free time, Mrs. Hollingsworth enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and exploring the beautiful outdoors of North Carolina.
